Legal Clashes await U.S companies covering worker’s abortion costs

On June 24, The US Supreme Court overturned the landmark 1973 Roe V Wade, which enables U.S states to ban abortion of women. The decision is condemned by President Joe Biden. This will have a huge impact on life’s of millions of women. It will dramatically changes their lives. It’s like taking away their fundamental rights from them. Some U.S companies have said that they will cover travel costs for employees who will leave their home states for abortion. According to the legal experts, Companies that will cover travel costs for employees getting abortion could have to face many legal clashes and will be exposed to criminal liability.

1. What is Roe. V Wade Court Case?

Roe. V Wade was a decision of the United States, Supreme Court. According to that the Constitution of the United States generally protects rights of a pregnant woman and gives her the liberty to choose to have an abortion. It was the landmark decision of the U.S Supreme Court.

Many U.S companies announced that they will provide those benefits through their Health Insurance Plans. They are doing so in anticipation of Supreme Court decision on Friday. Amazon. com Inc ( AMZN. Biden said “The court has done what it has never done before, expressly take away a constitutional right that is so fundamental to so many Americans “. An urge was also made by him to the congress to pass a law protecting abortion rights. He said that his administration will protect women’s access to medications which are approved by the U.S food and Drug Administration. This includes pills for contraception and medication abortion.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said “A loss for women everywhere “. She also said “Watching the removal of a women’s fundamental rights to make decisions over their own body is incredibly upsetting “.

Women’s are continuously protesting against this injustice since the day the law has been passed by the Supreme Court. Massive protest were held outside the courthouse and also in major cities and small towns. Removing the fundamental rights from women is really very disappointing. It will have a severe impact in their whole life. Every woman has the right to take decision of her choice. The companies which are helping their employees with the health insurance if they will have to go to another state for abortion are also going to face many legal clashes. This is really pathetic.
